Setting up your Lists

Have you grouped your friends and followers into lists in Facebook and Twitter?
I find that it makes it so much easier when sending out invites for events, new pages and connecting people together. Even being able to ‘geolocate’ into relative areas helps, so that they are able to receive relevant information from you.

I often receive notification from events on different continents, that require my personal attendance to participate.
Even with the increasing use of webinars as a form of engagement can be hit and miss because of world time patterns. There are certain times of the day that are better for planning a webinar to gain a wider reach.( I have found 20:00 GMT to be a great time to use for a global audience)

Do you know your obligations with Copyright and Creative Commons?

I have been prompted to look into copyright laws and what is possible to use in posts.

There are several websites that help with information about what as a private person allowed to use. I am listing the sites so those that wish to go look may do so, but I did find it interesting reading.

Australian Copyright Council

U.S Copyright Office

An Article on Fair use

Another idea sprang up a few years ago that permits private use of copyrighted material. This is known as Creative Commons. The government sites that relate to CC registration are:

Creative Commons Australia

Creative Commons International Site

With the rise of social media networking, there is much to learn about the viral spread of works of media so that everyone is able to learn and also to retain the integrity of the original production.

If you consider that even taking a piece of information from a website that was produced by someone else, even for your own personal use without permission of the publisher, then that is an infringement of copyright. Even taking the article and storing it somewhere else for personal use is an offence.
The acts also state that rectification is not enough; the act of reproducing the idea/photo/video/website content is in it’s own right an offence.

I feel it has become an issue that we as a community need to become more aware of how Copyright and Creative Commons can be put to affective use within our community.  Even the days of putting on the VCR/DVD/HD recorder and recording a show off the television have some limits. There are however benefits for integrity by using channels like YouTube, Flickr and other sharing sites who monitor what content is placed on their servers.

There is an element called “Fair Use” which describes the use of photos or logos to explain and associate an idea to their brand.
I have used these two logos in that manner.

I suggest that you read through the links’ pages so as to understand the integrity of what we all are becoming more involved with through use of Social Media.

Creating a Video from Scratch

I was doing some research and have finally worked on putting together a video and posting it on YouTube. (Yes!)

A very interesting experience about going into great detail and the processes.

Planning is so important!

Having an outline of what is to be written, videoed and said is critical to achieving a desired outcome; being good enough for others to want to watch it, while also motivating them to share it amongst friends.

This result may not exactly been what I was looking for, but it has taught me about what to look for and put into a system format so that I am able to show others.( I found a funky little tune though!)

With the growth of video as a marketing tool, I feel it has become important for businesses large and small, to start considering making their own profile video.
There is now the ability to market via a webinar for more than 1,000 viewers while remaining stable. The costs per head are low and while everyone (& their aunty) is offering a free webinar, there are some who are charging for their services.
How would you feel about a webinar that you were charged $10.00 to be part of for gaining valuable information?
Would you value that webinar more because you made a financial commitment?
